PittsburghPCTM Annual Conference
November 4-6, 2009,
Pittsburgh, PA

The Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics is coming to the Steel City in 2009!

PCTM has announced that its 2009 Annual Conference will be held at the Radisson in the Green Tree section of Pittsburgh on November 4-6, 2009.

The last time the PCTM annual conference was held in Pittsburgh was in March of 2001.  We are excited about some differences in this conference.  We are sharing time and space on Thursday with the Math & Science Collaborative to showcase the Math Science Partnerships’ work in Southwestern PA around understanding student thinking.  This partnership will add a new dimension to the conference.  Attendees will be able to move freely among the sessions offered by both groups.  A variety of sessions for all levels from elementary, through middle school and high school, and into college will be offered.  There will also be a variety of general interest sessions and featured speakers.

Book/Resource vendors will be in attendance as well as some local resource providers to enhance our ability to make connections within the mathematics world and between math and the rest of the world.

Program sessions will begin on Wednesday evening November 4, 2009 at 4 p.m. and move into a social activity.  We will offer a wide range of sessions running from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday.  Thursday evening will feature a dinner and speaker.  Friday the enjoyment continues with sessions running from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and featuring a banquet luncheon.

Conferences provide a wide range of informational topics and opportunities to network and share ideas. We are now beginning to solicit speakers.  We invite you to have your district include some time for your mathematics teachers of all levels to speak and attend.
