Some news items for the NPCTM Board:
The Spring Meeting is scheduled for April 19th  at St. Mary’s Center in Scranton with Registration at 6:00.  Debbie Crawford the Mathematics Professional Development Manger from Pearson Services will speak on “Summing it Up;  What We Know About 2014-2015 Assessments.”   Ask some colleagues to join us!

Thanks to Gen Battisto and Barbara Cozza, the Program Committee for arranging for this exciting speaker.

The flier for the meeting went into the mail yesterday.  We had some interesting problem solving with the Membership list this spring.  By the combined efforts of Rosemary Borland and her office and my colleagues and secretary we were able to trick the internet into sending a very old Access file and to change that file to a modern Excel file.  The Membership list was then updated.  All of that problem solving took time so that student workers were on break when the mailing was able to go out and the MATH Department secretary had to do the mailing alone with some extra time in the office.  I would like to request $50.00 for a gift certificate for her for this extra effort.  Please hit reply (and not reply to all) and vote yes or no to this request.

Our next project with the Membership list is to get e-mail addresses for all members.  This should allow us to do most of our communications on-line.  A mailing to all of the NPCTM members costs around $300 so it is time to join the electronic age!

The request for nominees for the Frank Sotille Scholarships went out in the meeting mailing.  If you know of top mathematics oriented seniors, please nominate them.  The scholarships will be given at our Spring meeting.

The Frank Sotille Middle School Math Contest is May 17th at Marywood University.  The Writing Team has already met—Thanks!!  Also thanks to the Marywood Mathematics Department for sponsoring the contest with Marywood.

We received $ 500.00 grant from PCTM to help sponsor the Middle School Math Contest.  Thanks to PCTM.

I am looking forward to seeing you at St. Mary’s Center on April 19th.
Mary Ann Matras, NPCTM President
